"The themes on this album are love, loss and hope for a better future as the album acts as a musical snapshot of my life over the past few years. I produced this record with the help of some great friends in my old apartment on the junction of Holloway and Camden Road; it was mainly written and recorded at night. Joe Meek's Telstar Studios was constantly within view and I tried to channel that experimental spirit into the creation of this record.

Numerous alt rock agent provocateurs from past and present influenced me, names like Bowie, Faith no More and Talk Talk combine with a love for synth pioneers like John Carpenter, Brian Eno and the western shades of Morricone. This is all wrapped up with contemporary artists like Bleachers, John Grant and underground artists like Cobra Man, TVAM and Big Black Delta who provided an influence alongside many others."

about

“If this album’s concept is the life cycle of a relationship then The Bitter End was my way of starting at the end. The creation of The Bitter End marked the death knell of a tumultuous affair. During my recovery I binged on a diet of early 80’s horror movies, this inspired me to combine a wall of synthesizers with a wall of distortion as a unique form of self-help. Whilst The Bitter End doesn’t mark my permanent return to the Headbangers Ball it shows I kept the tuxedo in my closet”

lyrics

You were more than a lover
So much more than a friend
I let you keep my heart
Until the bitter end
You found religion quick
It put us in a bind
You tried to push too fast
I guess we had our time

Slow yourself down my friend
All your love was bad for me
Bad for me

Oh we never would have reached the end
All your love was bad for me
Bad for me

Wrapped around your finger
I tried my best to please
You threw away the diamond
I'd hidden up my sleeve
Too many brothers and sisters
Too many hearts to tame
Take off your tinted glasses
I bet I'm still to blame

Slow yourself down my friend
Take your pain away from me
Away from me

You know I’ll love you to the bitter end
But all your love was bad for
Bad for me
