"The themes on this album are love, loss and hope for a better future as the album acts as a musical snapshot of my life over the past few years. I produced this record with the help of some great friends in my old apartment on the junction of Holloway and Camden Road; it was mainly written and recorded at night. Joe Meek's Telstar Studios was constantly within view and I tried to channel that experimental spirit into the creation of this record.

Numerous alt rock agent provocateurs from past and present influenced me, names like Bowie, Faith no More and Talk Talk combine with a love for synth pioneers like John Carpenter, Brian Eno and the western shades of Morricone. This is all wrapped up with contemporary artists like Bleachers, John Grant and underground artists like Cobra Man, TVAM and Big Black Delta who provided an influence alongside many others."

1.
You were more than a lover So much more than a friend I let you keep my heart Until the bitter end You found religion quick It put us in a bind You tried to push too fast I guess we had our time Slow yourself down my friend All your love was bad for me Bad for me Oh we never would have reached the end All your love was bad for me Bad for me Wrapped around your finger I tried my best to please You threw away the diamond I'd hidden up my sleeve Too many brothers and sisters Too many hearts to tame Take off your tinted glasses I bet I'm still to blame Slow yourself down my friend Take your pain away from me Away from me You know I’ll love you to the bitter end But all your love was bad for Bad for me

The Comeback 05:12
Burn, burn, burn As the pages turn Filled with passion and fire I’ve spread my pain All throughout this land Flying higher and higher On the wings of love They’ve dragged me down And helped me tie my noose Ashes and heartbreaks I’ve worn them as my shroud Until life cut me loose And all that’s said Becomes undone Freedom You will know my name Freedom I’m alive again The comeback kid yeah he rides again Freedom You will know my name Yearn, yearn, yearn As the worm it turns Turns away from the mire I’ll cut my cord From my overlords And build their funeral pyre Oh the wings of love They’ve dragged me down But watch me rise again 7/11 yeah I’ll wear my crown The old mans back again I will comeback just to prove myself I will return again just to try
3.
Flicking through your magazines In his favourite polo neck He watches documentaries To keep his feminism...fresh All alone his heart it bleeds Cos he heard it makes you wet He’s gonna say you’ve lost your mind Just to get you into bed Go on and put the gaslight out Cos he’s acting out Like a boisterous lout Oh yeah Let the oceans dry right out And watch him freaking out While he’s doing nowt Oh yeah He quotes Dostoevsky Then says your favourite band is shit Yeah He’s got his virtue signals on And think Tame Impalas lit He loves Tarantino films But think Pulp Fiction is kitsch He sends you nudes all of the time While posting pseudo new age skits No one understands Because he’s special No one understands Because your special S-O-F-T-B-O-I Don’t let him plant that seed of doubt He’s just acting out He’s a boisterous lout Don't let him plant that seed of doubt He's just acting out He's a boisterous lout
4.
Sometimes it rains heavy Even down in Mexico And sometimes in your heart You just know You’re the only one On my mind tonight You may not know me well But it’ll be alright People keep on walking Even through their darkest days And like a lighthouse in the storm Love lights our way Cos baby when I took your hand I want to be your man
5.
Bad Girl 03:22
Just another bad girl Trying to make it in a bad world Just another bad girl Trying hard to Get through Trying to make it through to you She made me feel like Made me feel like I had to know (Wind her up and watch her go) She made me feel like Made me feel like I had to go
6.
Vultures hover these streets tonight Hanging out for something new But she don’t say she loves me Even when I say I do These corners flash by on Holloway nights I see the fervour in the crowd But she don’t hear the question Even when I shout I lit loud Don’t say you’re running from love Just say you’re running from me Call me Mrs Stockholm Get that bitch on the line She’s got another hostage She should be doing time
7.
You hard nosed, homegrown, homophobe Just back off Eye contact made Yeah I’m costing you off Just piss off You see I’m begging you please To get up off your knees Just back off Acting like you know My teeth they itch and toes They curl up (Just fuck off) You think you look so bloody smooth Boy that mirror sure lies to you You cannot be in your right mind Go find another axe to grind You think you look so bloody smooth Boy that there mirror lies to you Waste my time, Keep me running around the block While you’re fucking around Working You say that you’re working when I know that you’re not You’re a cheap, low rent con artist (Cheap excuses mate) And I’ve had enough So when you’re rolling around town like Sylvester Stallone in your Ford Focus Tearing up that naan like a horny teenager on the passenger seat Nah, you can piss off mate I don’t need it I don’t need ya
8.
I should’ve known better I should’ve known better than to fall in love I should’ve known better I should’ve known better I wish I’d never met her I should’ve known better than to call it love I should’ve known better I should’ve known better Deep inside She only cared What clothes I’d got Who cut my hair But deep inside I’d thought she’d know How deep I felt How far I’d go I don’t want her reasons I don’t care about them, not anymore I said I don’t want this freedom I don’t dream about it Not anymore I should’ve known better I should’ve known better than to fall in love I should’ve known better I should’ve known better than to fall in love I wish I’d never met her I should’ve known better than to call it love I should’ve known better I should’ve known better Maybe sometimes I still miss her But I should’ve known better I should’ve known better than to fall in love
9.
In The Name 05:22
I papered over cracks when I met her… Sure I said I was maybe something else Or somebody slightly better adjusted than I actually am (I papered over cracks) But I was trying to show you that I cared That I was patient and willing to wait around for you That this was the best man I knew I could be And the man you made me want to be And yeah, sure it came back and bit me harder than I ever deserved in the first place But I don’t care I was just trying to Paint the crack Cover my tracks Get it back I papered over cracks when I met her I papered over cracks just to gain her trust To prove to her that I was better A pathetic excuse in the name of lust I papered over cracks when I met her My self esteem couldn’t get enough I’m knocking down walls with my ego A double entendre in the name of love In the name of love You tell me You love me so much but you hurt Anyway I papered over, papered over cracks And now I want my future back Who am I meant to be? Who will you let me see? Maybe this time I’m not going to come running back…I’m holding on…
