about
When I wrote 'Living The Dream' I had recently removed myself from a number of unhealthy relationships and thrown myself into my work. Whilst I had become somewhat of a hermit in those days I also met a wonderful woman and started a love affair.
The song is a snap shot of that period in my life; the lyrics were quite tongue in cheek; centering on the rejection of the 'rock n roll' lifestyle that had been thrust upon me, the new love in my life and the scene from where I was writing the song...The allusions to Matisse and Picasso coming from the pictures hanging above my desk.
lyrics
What I got to find
Is that you told me a pack of lies
And all that’s on my mind
Is you led me to disaster
I don’t need no fancy car, to love her
I don’t need no big guitar, to love her
I don’t need no Rolex watch, to love her
I don’t need your rock and roll, to love her
Going out my mind
Don’t you see Picasso on the wall?
Matisse is right beside
I’ve got one foot right out the door
I don’t need no fancy car, to love her
I don’t need no big guitar, to love her
I don’t need no Rolex watch, to love her
I don’t need your rock and roll, to love her
I don’t need your rock and roll…
I don’t need no fancy car, to love her (Living the dream)
I don’t need no big guitar, to love her (Living the dream)
I don’t need no Rolex watch, to love her (Living the dream)
I don’t need your rock and roll, to love her (Living, living the dream)
