about

I grew up in the South Yorkshire countryside and it wasn’t always easy to get around. My oldest friend’s mother Mrs Taylor used to ferry us around a lot and take care of us if we ever got into scrapes. When I learnt of her passing I immediately started writing lyrics and music; This track was written then and there as an ode to childhood and to those who took care of me in those formative years.

lyrics

Running free my friend
Through the fields we’re going home
Not alone
Running free my friend
Chasing clouds to guide us home
Not alone

Mrs Taylor drives us
Mrs Taylor drives us home
It’s never too far
Her beautiful heart so giving
The sun it shines around her now
She’s never too far

(Chasing clouds, chasing clouds, chasing clouds to guide us all the way)
We’re running free my friend
Chasing clouds to guide us home
Not alone
We see the car ahead
Our legs they hardly touch the ground
It’s never too far

Mrs Taylor drives us
Mrs Taylor drives us now
Too far
Her beautiful heart so giving
The sun it shines around her now
She’s never too far, never too far, too far

(Live forever, live forever, ever, ever, ever, ever more)
We’re running free my friend
Your mothers here to drive us home
Not alone
Her caring arms around us
Her smile it lives forever now
We’re never, never, never, never alone

Mrs Taylor drives us
Mrs Taylor drives us home
Never too far
Her beautiful heart so giving
The sun it shines around her now
She’s never that far
